Pick the right boat for your sandbar trip

Every boat is private, with a USCG-licensed captain included. Each pick below says why it suits this trip. A sandbar trip near Jacksonville often heads for the Fort George Inlet area between Mayport and Amelia Island, though your captain picks the spot on the day. Tiki boat trips run 4, 6 or 8 hours, which leaves time to anchor, swim and relax.

How to choose

Not every boat suits a sandbar trip. You want shade, room for coolers, a way in and out of the water, and a boat that allows swimming.

What is the best sandbar near Jacksonville?
The Fort George Inlet sandbar, between Mayport and Amelia Island, is the best known. It is wide, shallow and busy on summer weekends. Your captain picks the right sandbar on the day, based on the tide and where you launch.
Do I need a boat to get to a Jacksonville sandbar?
Yes. The popular sandbars are reached by water. A private charter with a captain is the easiest way, because the captain handles the tides, the shallow channels and the anchoring.
What is the best time to go to a sandbar?
Arrive on a rising or high tide and leave before the water drops too far. Around Fort George, the difference between high and low tide can reach about 5 feet, so timing matters.
Which boat is best for a sandbar trip?
The tiki party boat, for up to 10 guests, is made for sandbar days and allows swimming. The 25 ft powerboat also offers swim and sandbar stops. Swimming is not allowed from the 44 ft Sea Ray.
What should we bring on a sandbar trip?
Water shoes, sunscreen, towels, a cooler with drinks and snacks, and a trash bag so you leave the sandbar as you found it. The tiki boat has thatched shade and the powerboat has a T-top, so there is cover between swims.
Is a sandbar trip private?
Yes. Every boat is private, so the only people on board are your group and your licensed captain. You choose the music, the snacks and how long you stay in the water, within the time you book.
How long is a sandbar trip?
The tiki party boat books for 4, 6 or 8 hours, and the 25 ft powerboat from 3 hours. A longer booking gives you more time at the sandbar once the tide is right.
What happens if the weather turns?
Your captain makes the weather call on the day and picks the right sandbar for the tide and the conditions. If we cancel for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date. If your group needs to cancel, trips cancelled more than 5 days ahead are refundable, less a 3% processing fee.
How much does a sandbar boat trip cost?
The tiki party boat is $1,343 for 4 hours, $1,683 for 6 hours and $2,021 for 8 hours for up to 10 guests. The 25 ft powerboat is $767 for 3 hours for up to 6. Sales tax is added.
